Romantic Ideas for When Your Husband Gets Home From a Long Trip

The nights can seem long and lonely for both husbands and wives when he is away on a long trip. That makes the first night back that much more special as you rekindle your romance for the evening.

Chances are your husband is tired from traveling, so plan a mellow evening where the two of you can spend some quality time together.

 

Candlelight Dinner

When your husband has been traveling on the road, chances are he has been eating out three meals a day. Whether he is at business dinners or stuck eating solo in the corner of a restaurant, the idea of a home-cooked meal might fit the bill.

Think about what type of cuisine he enjoys and plan a menu around that type of food. Then, lower the lights, light a few candles, put on some soft music and share the wonderful meal you have prepared.

 

Write a Note

Though you have probably had some contact while he was on the road, chances are it is not as much as when he is working his normal schedule. Write a note or card to him about how much you appreciate how hard he works.

Many times traveling for the business man is not a lot of fun. He will appreciate that you realize not only is it tough, but that you are doing it for the betterment of your family.

 

Screensaver

With the way the world is connected, even when someone is “not working” they are sure to check their email. Create a screensaver of you and your husband to surprise him when he turns on the computer.

The image can be of you wearing something intimate or the two of you together. If you know he has a particular picture that he regards as his favorite, use that one.

 

Massage

After a long trip he might tired and sore from sleeping in hotel beds and riding in cramped cars or planes. Purchase some lotion from a local beauty supply store, light a few candles, play some relaxing music and give your loved one a massage.

You can focus on the whole body or select different areas, such as the head, feet, back or chest. Also, instead of lotion, you can purchase professional massage oils. Some of them have a warming quality when they are applied to the skin.

 

Beverage

Some men enjoy an alcoholic beverage at the end of the day. If your husband likes to have a drink at night, have his favorite drink waiting for him. It might be an imported beer, nice glass of pinot noir or maybe even a dirty martini, shaken not stirred.

Purchase the beer, wine or spirits before he gets home and have it waiting in a glass, complete with garnish.
