Winter Resorts In the Midwest
Enjoying Resorts in the Winter in places with distinct climate changes like the Midwest can offer some fun for a day, two or a week. The good point is finding a really nice package for your partner or for the whole family.
During the upcoming Holiday season memories can be made by doing some special things. Right here in Chicago is where I have gotten beautiful doses of the Season because having a young child encouraged me to experience what was right in my own backyard, so to speak.
Why Not Start In Chicago
The beautiful part about Chicago is the cold but lively and cozy Winters. Nothing compares. Mel Torme wrote the Christmas song and Nat King Cole made it famous and it remains to be a Christmas Standard because it is so Chicago to us and is in the tradition of our White Winters and enjoyment.
Starting right here a little North of Adams Street in our Loop area, right down from the Art Institute is Millennium Park. Checking the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau you can find package deals for a weekend deal at a nearby Hotel, and hit the beautiful ice rink at Millennium park with your skates or rented ones.
There are Concession stands to eat, the beautiful Backdrop of the Magnificent Mile and afterwards a beautiful walk to the Magnificent Mile (a bus may make it easier, but not necessarily) and shopping if you desire.
The thing about Chicago is that you can get plenty of reasonable meals, great visits to Pizza Houses and Restaurants that the whole family will enjoy for moderate prices. Live the beautiful but simple life for a Weekend and experience our Special Store Window Decorations!
Dearborn, Michigan
It’s been years since I took the trek to Dearborn Michigan but it is a beautiful place for a Winter Resort as well. During the Holidays in a place called Greenfield Village there are historic buildings at the Henry Ford Museum.
There is a Georgian inspired Inn right across the street from the well-known Holiday decorations. The children can take pictures with Santa and live Reindeer. This place reminds you of a beautiful fantasy come to life! There is also skiing and other Winter activities.
Upper Peninsula, Michigan
Sledding, Skiing, Snow Shoeing, Mushing amongst too many activities to mention, and features are found in Upper Peninsula Michigan.
Michigan is famous for their two Peninsulas and the Upper Peninsula is used for Tourist attractions! It provides you with more than just a spirit. Check the Newberry Department of Tourism and find out how much fun to be had.
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
This little Aspen Like getaway City in Wisconsin is beautiful all year ’round. I’ve been blessed to go in the Spring and Summer, but so far not in the Winter. Their Winter Festival is famous for its “Snow Sculpturing” competition but it definitely does not stop there.
There are Helicopter rides (done that), skiing, snowboarding and sledding as well as many other Winter Sports as much as allowed. Lake Geneva is really a pretty peaceful place loaded with cabins and Quaint shops to bring things back home to remember your experience. Wisconsin has good food too. it sort of reminds us of Chicago and the hearty big meals we serve! Call their Tourism bureau to inquire about package deals.
Door County, Wisconsin
Just as Lake Geneva has been called the Aspen of the Midwest, Door County feels like the Cape Cod of the Midwest.
It’s another place for pleasantly wonderful Winter Activities. There are an abundance of shopping sites, galleries and Inns. These are just starting points for Midwestern Winter fun and believe it, they offer cozy, enchanting, memorable fun for a couple or a whole family!
