Zip-Line Vacations in Texas

Dallas Region
Set on the Southern Cross, a dude ranch just 15 minutes south of downtown Dallas, Trinity Forest Adventure Park is home to six aerial courses with varying levels of difficulty and elevation. Open to those ages 6 and over, the zip-line courses travel through 7 acres of dense woods and are accessible via bridges and ladders.
DFW Adventure Park is an extreme theme park in Roanoke, 35 minutes northwest of Dallas. The park has four zip-line courses, open Friday through Sunday, traveling anywhere from 230 to 400 feet at heights of 30 to 40 feet off the ground.
The activity is restricted to those 10 and older and weighing less than 300 pounds. The park also has paintball courses, wilderness challenges and air-soft and laser combat fields.
San Antonio Area
Explore Texas Hill Country at Wimberley Zipline Adventures, one hour north of San Antonio. Reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour and soak up the sights of rugged canyons and slithering creeks from 10 zip-line courses that hover more than 100 feet above the ground.
Each adventure includes riding all 10 courses, which combine for over 1 mile in length; it lasts from 90 to 120 minutes. The minimum age and weight are 10 years and 70 pounds. Just 35 minutes northeast of San Antonio, Natural Bridge Caverns is a series of enormous underground limestone caves and caverns.
The site is home to a host of recreational adventures, including a harnessed canopy challenge built inside a massive wooden tower, complete with tightrope and plank-walking courses and two zip-lines. The minimum weight for the zip-line portion is 60 pounds.
Austin Area
Lake Travis Zip Line Adventures is in Leander, 30 minutes north of Austin. The lakeside recreational complex includes five zip-lines measuring 20 stories high and traveling across such majestic sights as canyons and lake inlets. The nearly three-hour adventure includes nature hikes along the waterfront and zip-lining more than 2,800 feet combined.
On select nights, the company offers zip-lining excursions under a full moon. Cypress Valley Canopy Tours is in Spicewood, 40 minutes northwest of Austin. Set in the midst of a forest, the course lets you fly more than 40 feet in the air from treetop to treetop via five zip-lines.
Tours last from 90 to 120 minutes. The complex also has tree houses, where you can sleep overnight. Both sites require zip-liners to be at least 10 years of age and weigh at least 70 pounds and less than 250 pounds.
East Side Story
Thomas Falls Event Center is in the town of Diana, in the midst of the Piney Woods, and less than one hour from the Louisiana border. The outdoor adventure complex is dotted with such natural fixtures as a 60-foot cliff, 25-foot waterfall and 7-acre lake.
The course includes eight zip-lines, some of which travel across the lake and off the cliff. Platforms are accessible via rappelling exercises, wagon rides and sky-walk bridges. Fly past towering trees and craggy hillsides at New York, Texas ZipLine Adventures in LaRue, approximately two hours from the Louisiana border.
The course is home to six zip-lines, one of which measures 940 feet long and 100 feet high. Each tour lasts from 90 to 120 minutes and includes instruction on the ground. Adventurers must be at least 5 years of age and 70 pounds, but no more than 225 pounds for women and 275 pounds for men.
