The combination of a Yorshire terrier and a toy poodle is referred to as a yorkiepoo or yorkiedoodle. This is a hybrid, not a purebred dog.

 

Benefits

The yorkiepoo is a non-shedding dog, making it an easy breed to clean up after and a friend to allergy sufferers.

 

Recognition

The yorkiepoo hybrid is recognized by both the American Hybrid Canine Club and the Designer Dogs Kennel Club. Because it is a mixed breed, the yorkiepoo is not recognized by the American Kennel Club.

 

Considerations

The yorkiepoo coat should be soft and silky and can come in a variety of color combinations. Groom this breed often to avoid matted, tangled hair.

 

Fun Fact

As of December 2009, there were more than 18 yorkiepoo rescues dedicated to finding loving homes for homeless designer dogs.
